Summary

Art is about knowing where to draw the line ~

My work focuses on backgrounds and visuals that set tone, imply story, and create atmosphere often without a single character in frame.

I love imagining spaces that feel lived-in, expressive, and full of small details that reward closer looks. From cartoons to concept keyframes, I experiment with all the usuals; colour, perspective, composition and mood to make each scene feel playful, purposeful, and serve the narrative.

Over the years, I’ve collaborated with studios across animation, games, and entertainment, but what always excites me most is the artwork itself. Through visual storytelling, I aim to give each scene and piece of artwork a sense of place and little narrative hints that invite the viewer to imagine what might be happening beyond the edges of the frame.

Experience

  • Art Director at Easygo
    Melbourne, AU
    February 2023 - February 2026

For over three years, I’ve led teams of illustrators and animators across high-pressure, fast-paced environments. I’m at my best setting vision, structuring workflows, keeping people motivated, and solving problems before they become blockers.

At Easygo, where I most recently finished as Studio Art Director, I found a real stride in creative project leadership, balancing ambition with practicality, aligning creative output with business goals, and keeping teams motivated through constant change and growth.

  • Freelance at Freelance Artist
    Wellington
    October 2016 - January 2023

As a freelance illustrator I have worked on a variety of projects of all shapes and sizes. From humble beginnings, I worked designing posters and album covers for local and international musicians from 2012 and as I developed my skills and aesthetic I was afforded to opportunity to work on full page spreads for the Wellington Dominion Post (on behalf of Absolutely Positively Wellington). Below is a list of the major projects and contractors I have worked with as a freelance artist over the past year:

    - Gaumont/Netflix (Senior Background Artist)

    - Agriculture Victoria (Educational Artist, Animator)

    - Imersia (Illustrator)

    - Weta Digital (Concept Artist)

    - Sauce FX (Concept Artist)

    - Pixelcase (Concept Artist)

  • Junior Concept Artist at Weta Digital
    Wellington
    June 2015 - October 2016

Situated within the Art Department at Weta Digital, my role involved working on pre-production for major film titles as well as developing highly confidential pitch-projects with very tight turnaround times. I was involved in daily discussions with producers, art directors and producers surrounding the visual direction a film should take, as well as working closely with 3D artists and members of other departments on site.

Some of my proudest work during this time included the stylised animated flash-back sequence in "Krampus", character concepts for Epic Games (Paragon), and many of the visuals I designed for "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets".

    - Krampus

    - War for the Planet of the Apes

    - Maze Runner

    - Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

    - Pitch Projects (Ready Player One, Battlestar Galactica, Valerian)
